Diamond Match Works Liverpool

Following the take over of Collards in February 1895, construction of a new factory at Litherland in North Liverpool began.

June 1896

The new factory opens with J T Maguire as Manager.


Many of Collard's brands are continued; but a vast range is introduced including customers own brands.


J T Maguire and his four sons leave to form Maguire Miller and Co.


Bookmatch production starts.

Bryant and May merges with Diamond and it becomes known as the Diamond Match Works Liverpool. Many famous brands such as Captain Webb and Puck continue.

Night of 7/8th May 1941

Factory destroyed by German bombing.
