The earliest known design features the whole item made from pottery with the picture frame forming part of the base. The pictures were then glued to the piece.

The above examples come with either a silver or gold coloured metal effect frame and have a brown finish.

The above example shows how the base pottery has been painted differently with the word 'Matches' highlighted.

It states in the 1978 price list that the following colour prints were available: Welsh Girl, Dogs, Cats, Ponies, Highland Cattle, Scots Dancer, Scots Piper, Irish Jaunting Car, Irish Donkey, Irish Cottage, Lake District, Yacht, Huntsman, Country Cottage, Seagull, Harbour, London Zoo, Blackpool, British Birds, Friendship, Home and Mother.
