Tony Gallaher Memorial Award
KC Literary Award

The Society makes two awards each year, provided the entries reach the standard required :

  • The Tony Gallaher Memorial Award is awarded annually to the contributor of the Best Article, or series of articles published in the Society magazine in the previous year, in the judgement of the current magazine Editor. The winner receives a returnable engraved Shield together with a keepsake Shield.
  • The KC Literary Award is awarded annually to the contributor of the Best Publication reviewed in the Society magazine in the previous year, in the judgement of the Committee. The winner receives a returnable Cup together with a keepsake Shield.

These Awards are announced at the Society Annual General Meeting, which usually takes place in April each year.

The awards for 2019 are :

  • The Tony Gallaher Memorial Award for the Best Article in the Society magazine in the past year, 2018, was awarded to John Hope for his article ‘Sri Lankan Skillets’ (published in the June 2018 magazine No.427 pages 10-16). Read the article here.
  • The KC Literary Award for the Best Publication reviewed in the Society magazine in the past year was awarded to Jose Manuel Santos Silva for his ‘Catalogues from Portugal‘ (reviewed in the August 2018 magazine No.428 page 34).
